But We're Freinds...The Beginning

They say in order to heal and gain closure in most situations, it’s best to some times “let it all out”. It is through mistakes experiences that many lessons are learned. In order to keep my entry down to a minimum, I have decided to divide my story into several posts.

I met him during my summer break from college in 2003. We had an instant attraction that I had never had with any man before. We were physical within the first day of hanging out with each other, and that became the basis of our relationship. He was the best lover I’d ever had, but even then I didn’t think we would go pass the summer. During that period he didn’t have a girlfriend and I was single so everything was fair game. I returned back to school in the fall and figured things would just die out and we’d move on. However, we continued to talk over the phone fairly often. At this point the long distance and talking over the phone allowed us to actually take the time to get to know each other mentally.

Over the course of fall and going into Spring 04 I got involved with another man and he got back with the mother of his child. It was no big deal to me. I had my guy and he had his lady. We use to have periods when we didn’t really talk as often (maybe a month or two would go by). To me it gave me time to focus on my relationship and everything else that was going on in my life. From day one I knew this guy enjoyed being in the company of women, which is why I never really took him too seriously or even entertained being in a serious relationship with him.

Once I left school and moved and relocated in 04 our relationship started to peak again. I still had my man and he had his girl. He came out to visit me for the Easter holiday. Once he returned home back to his life we continued to talk on a regular basis. At this point, we had a very open and candid relationship. I knew about most of the other women he was seeing, and I also knew his reasons for why cheated. At the time, his behavior didn’t bother me because I always felt it wasn’t my problem (he’s not my man).

During the summer in 05 I joined my family for our annual Vegas trip and he decided to meet me out there. I arrived in L.V. at 11:00pm on a Friday. We decided to walk around and hang out before we went back to his hotel. That first night (or should I say early Saturday morning) was great. Our sex was always good, that was the main attraction. During this trip I had broken up with my man and he was still with his girl. Again, I wasn’t really thinking about their situation. We had our own little world that didn’t include girlfriend, or any other chicks he wanted to entertain himself with…
